According to Turkish newspaper Aksam, Fenerbahce have rejected West Bromwich Albion’s €15m offer for Josef de Souza.

We recently covered reports from Turkey again linking Souza with a move to West Brom, and this time with Alan Pardew manager of the Baggies.

The South American midfielder has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns since the last transfer window, but remained with Fenerbahce after former West Brom manager Tony Pulis decided to sign PSG’s Gregorz Krychowiak instead.

Aksam report the English club’s formal offer for the midfielder has been rejected, with Fenerbahce manager Aykut Kocaman after telling the club’s board he needs Souza in his team in order to challenge for the league title.

It’s claimed an offer was tabled 3 weeks ago, but this was swiftly rejected by Fenerbahce, following Kocaman’s desire to keep the player.

Souza has become a key player for Fenerbahce this season, and West Brom may need to offer more in order to convince the Turkish giants.

The Premier League side are likely to strengthen their squad next month after being sucked into a relegation battle, and speculation with regards to the Brazilian joining the Premier League side doesn’t seem to be going away in the Turkish press.
