Josef de Souza’s proposed move to West Bromwich Albion from Fenerbahçe collapsed due to the personal terms offered by the Premier League side.
Fernerbahce had agreed to West Brom’s €11.5m offer, but a deal never materialised.
Fanatik report the main issue Souza didn’t join west Brom was because of money. According to the Turkish newspaper West Brom offered the Brazilian €1.4m per a season, but the player wanted more because he’s already earning €2.2m at Fenerbahce.
After a series of talks, West Brom decided not to up their offer, and because they’d already secured a loan move for PSG midfielder Gregorz Krychiowiak, they pulled out of a deal for Souza. Yesterday Souza was pictured smiling during training, contrary to reports he cried in order to get a transfer to West Brom.
The 28 year old will be staying at Fenerbahce for at least now, but the Turkish side’s fans were devastated with the news he wouldn’t be joining West Brom.
There had been a social media campaign backing the West Brom move.
