According to a claim in the Turkish media, Trabzonspor’s pursuit of West Bromwich Albion midfielder Okay Yokuşlu has stalled.
The Turkey international has been linked with a return to the Super Lig after two years at the Hawthorns.
Kuzey Ekspres today reports on the latest developments regarding the future of Yokuşlu and they say West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has stepped in and prevented the transfer from happening.
Recent reports said the 30-year-old was on the verge of signing for Trabzonspor and that it was only a matter of days before his arrival was announced. However, Corberan’s intervention seems for the time being stalled things between the two clubs.
There is no explanation to why the West Brom boss has vetoed the deal, but it’s still reported transfer talks with continue so it may be a case Corberan didn’t like something about the proposed deal or wants a replacement in first.
Okay Yokuşlu made 18 appearances for West Brom last season and is contracted to the Baggies until June 2025.
