Arsenal Fan TV is not the only place you’ll find people endorsing the end of Arsene Wenger’s management at the club.
In fact, the foreign press seem really excited about it. It doesn’t matter if you read Italian, Portuguese or even Brazilian outlets… the world media is paying a lot of attention to a possible Wenger exit from Arsenal.
Today it’s Marca, one of the most important sports newspapers in Spain, who has an opinion detailing seven deadly sins which would underline the need for change.
The reasons are the following:
1 – Arsenal have renounced their playing identity
2 – The club rarely showed their potential in Europe
3 – Wenger’s title record has suffered a setback
4 – For the first time, they may not qualify for the Champions League
5 – The manager has a bad recent record against the top six clubs
6 – The injury crisis has no end
7 – His project is worn out, signings haven’t worked
All of the reasons are justified with facts and data, although they clearly take the worst examples to go against the French manager.
What Marca makes pretty clear is that they think Wenger was brilliant in the past, especially in his first years at the London club. They call him a ‘revolutionary’ in the way he made his team play, but his recent failures are what convinces them to make such a story.
Marca end their introduction by saying this love story shouldn’t finish badly. But given that the pressure and story is now so big that Marca and others are covering ‘Wenger Out’ seriously, suggests the situation isn’t exactly rosy.
