Crystal Palace star Patrick van Aanholt has revealed he held talks with PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window last year.
The Dutchman has been an ever-present at Selhurst Park since arriving at the club from Sunderland in January 2017.
He was heavily linked with a return to his homeland in January 2020, with numerous claims across that month that he was in talks with PSV.
In the end, he didn’t move, with it later revealed that the Eredivisie side had pulled out of a deal because they didn’t think he was good enough.
Van Aanholt has gone on to feature regularly again for Crystal Palace this season, with 17 appearances in the Premier League to his name this season.
His contract expires in the summer, and he is widely expected to leave the club when it does, although where he ends up remains to be seen.
He’s now discussed his options should he leave Crystal Palace, revealing the talks with PSV last year were a real thing.
“I did talk to PSV last year in the winter. That was an option. I didn’t talk to Ajax,” he told ESPN Netherlands.
“It is always the media that leaks things. As long as nothing is concrete, I don’t worry.
“I’ll be transfer-free in the summer; I’ll keep all options open. We’ll see what will happen.”
