Much like the rest of the loanees out there in this difficult time, Valentino Lazaro will be thinking about what his future holds.
The versatile right-sided player arrived on loan at Newcastle United from Inter to help provide Steve Bruce with some extra depth in his squad, and was finding his feet when the Covid-19 pandemic struck.
Now, the player is sat at home in quarantine like the rest of us, and with questions marks over whether or not the league will resume, the prospect of returning to Inter could be looming.
Newcastle United have the chance to make the move permanent thanks to a clause in the loan deal, but there has been no indication as of yet they will do this, especially now that a change of ownership is underway at St James’ Park.
Even Lazaro’s agent isn’t entirely sure what is going to happen, speaking to Inter Dipendenza on Thursday.
Max Hagmayr said: “Valentino has a contract with Inter. He was sent on loan to Newcastle but then the virus arrived. His future? We’ll see what will happen”.
That feels like the response most agents would give at this time, so we wouldn’t read into it too much just yet.
Furthermore, the future of Steve Bruce could be a deciding factor, as a new manager might not want Lazaro in his plans going forward.
We just have to sit tight and, well, ‘see what will happen’.
