Janne Andersson thinks his Sweden squad should plan the births of their children so it doesn’t coincide with national duty, and especially not at the same time as teammates.
Taking a lighthearted look at his current doubts around the national team, Andersson explained that Albin Ekdal won’t be with the training group today because he’s just become a father.
There’s no indication when the 29 year old Sampdoria player will return to the fold.
Leeds United star Pontus Jansson is in a similar situation, with his partner due to give birth at any time, and Andersson is quoted by Aftonbladet as saying: “Pontus Jansson is also about to be a daddy. They are badly planning nowadays, the boys. We’ll see how things are with him.”
Sweden face Russia in the UEFA National League on October 11th, and with it being an away match, there’s obviously doubts over whether the Leeds defender will travel with his national squad.
Jansson scored Leeds United’s crucial equaliser in a tough match against Brentford at the weekend, putting in a good all round performance.
