West Ham United have Mainz star Jonathan Burkardt on their list as he enjoys the best season of his career to date.
That’s according to SportBILD, who report on the player and West Ham’s interest in him in their transfer special today.
They explain that the 24-year-old is currently having the best season of his career to date, with 12 goals already taking him past his previous best.
He’s also been nominated for the national team for the first time ever and added two international caps to his belt.
This has seen interest in him rise and while Eintracht Frankfurt are very interested in keeping him in the Bundesliga, West Ham have also put his name on their list.
Burkardt is currently valued at €25m but Mainz boss Christian Heidel will try to get even more. In fact, the belief is that he’ll be targeting a new record figure after selling Brajan Gruda to Brighton for €31.5m last summer.
The striker ruled out a move in the January transfer window but left his future open with a “we’ll see” when questioned what would happen in the summer. West Ham are interested in him and could make their move to finally settle their longstanding striker issues.
