Arsenal’s start to the season has been disappointing as the north London club suffered three defeats in their first three league matches.

The Gunners failed to find the back and conceded nine goals in the process, with Bernd Leno in goal for those fixtures.

Mikel Arteta replaced the German with summer signing Aaron Ramsdale for the clash against Norwich City, and Arsenal not only kept a clean sheet, but also went on to seal their first league win of this campaign.

The Gunners manager has hinted the former Sheffield United man could continue to start and should this happen, Leno, who has a contract at the Emirates until 2023, will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Bild journalist Christian Falk took to Twitter to claim he has learned Arteta has ‘promised’ the former Bayer Leverkusen man that he will be given a break of two matches.

Arsenal face Burnley this weekend before hosting Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby on September 26th. Leno, as per the report, is expected return to the starting XI against Spurs.

Falk ends it by stating: “We will see if Arteta keeps his word.”
