Even though he wasn’t called up by the national team, Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho travelled to Brazil during the international break.
Working as a club ambassador, he’s gone to a few cities to promote events with the Premier League trophy.
The 36-year-old was this weekend in Londrina, his home town, and had a word with the local media. Since he’s recently been linked to Brazilian clubs, he was obviously asked about his future.
Fernandinho made it clear that the decision is open for now, as he and Manchester City will only discuss a potential renewal at the end of the season.
“We’re at a decisive moment in competition and, as happened last year, we’ll have a family conversation to define it,” said Fernandinho (via Folha de Londrina).
“We’ll also sit down to find out what City’s objective is, but that will only be from June 1st, with the end of the season.”
Fernandinho’s current contract with Manchester City expires this summer.
Last year, when he was living that same situation, several Brazilian sides were revealed to be attentive to his potential comeback to Brazil.
But now, since he reportedly has an invite from Pep Guardiola to be part of his staff, he could also end his career and stay in Manchester.
