Newcastle United are chasing Barcelona’s Raphinha and this has been regularly discussed in the Catalan press over the past few weeks.
On May 8th, Sport reported the Magpies want to open formal negotiations as they are keen to sign the winger in the summer.
A latest report from today’s Sport discusses Newcastle interest when covering the situation of Deco, his agent.
The La Liga side have already confirmed their sporting director, Jordi Cruyff, will leave on June 30th. Deco is in contention to replace him and prior to joining Barcelona, he must comply with the conditions put forward by Joan Laporta.
Laporta wants Deco to end ties with the attacker and other clients in order to arrive at the club.
With regards to the Brazil international, Eddie Howe’s side are ‘willing to pay €80m’ for him.
Barca will ‘welcome the sale of the player for that amount’, despite Xavi Hernández’s desire to retain the 26-year-old at the club.
The former Leeds United man is in favour of staying at the Camp Nou.
Therefore, Deco must convince his client to accept the transfer to Newcastle, before joining the Spanish club as their new sporting director. Barcelona, who are keen to sell Raphinha, could also try to convince him to leave in the next window.
