*sigh*
That was our reaction when we saw an interview on TuttoMercatoWeb’s website on Thursday with Mario Giuffredi.
The Italian agent represents a number of Serie A players, including a certain Elseid Hysaj, Napoli’s right-back, who was ‘linked’ with Manchester United on Wednesday.
We say ‘linked’ because, well, he wasn’t.
Il Mattino relayed Shoot.co.uk, who were just suggesting the Albanian right-back as an option Mourinho might consider, and were in no way stating there was interest.
All this got twisted, as it tends to do, and now TMW have asked Giuffredi if the Manchester United interest is real, and if José Mourinho has called him about a transfer.
His answer: “He’s in a quiet period right now. We renewed his contract, and this means calm all around. He’s having a good season, he needs to reach last year’s form, and he will. In a year, he played 60 games for club and country.
“The biggest clubs follow him, and as for Manchester United, well, we’d look at it favourably.”
So, in the space of a day, we’ve gone from Il Mattino finding a month old ‘suggestion’ article to an Italian website asking the player’s agent if the rumours are true.
The wonderful world of transfer rumours, everyone.
