Now that Newcastle’s new owners have taken full control of the club, getting rid of Steve Bruce in the process, they can start planning the future ahead of them.

The first port of call will be getting in a managerial replacement, with Paulo Fonseca currently the bookmakers’ favourite, before thinking about transfers the manager might want.

However, that hasn’t stopped those in charge of deals at St James’ Park from snooping around the market a bit, with claims that Ousmane Dembélé’s agent is already in talks with the Magpies.

He isn’t the only forward they are looking at, with Calciomercato.it revealing that Newcastle are also keeping an eye on the situation of Lorenzo Insigne, currently in a contract stalemate with Napoli.

While there is still hope the winger will sign a new deal with the Serie A side, his demands appear a bit high for the at the time being, leaving the door open for clubs to ask around.

Newcastle are reportedly among those, with the website claiming they are among Premier League clubs ‘pushing’, now that they are ‘very wealthy’.

First, however, Napoli will give a new contract a go, but it’s made clear they will ‘not start from the request of a €7m signing on bonus’, which we are sure the Magpies would be more than happy to pay him if he agreed to a move to Tyneside.

One to keep an eye on, but this is just one of the many stories like this we will see in the coming months, with experienced free agents potentially seeing a revamped Newcastle as a great last challenge, as well as a good opportunity to fill their bank account.
