Leandro Trossard turned 27 on December 4th. His birthday was not a memorable one as the winger picked up an injury in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium.
Armando Broja gave the Saints the lead in the first half and the hosts were leading for most of the tie, before Neal Maupay scored the equaliser in stoppage time.
Trossard suffered a setback in the final quarter and was seen to be in pain. The former Genk star received medical attention for several minutes before being stretchered off the pitch.
Graham Potter confirmed the Belgium international suffered an elbow injury and also said the setback was not as “bad as first thought”.
Het Belang van Limburg have published comments from the player’s agent, Josy Comhair, in today’s edition of the newspaper, and there is a positive update for Brighton.
“A nerve got pinched so that Leandro no longer had feeling in his arm. That is why the medical team immediately intervened and he received care on the field,” Comhair said.
“I was present at the match together with Laura [Trossard’s wife]. Of course, we panicked for a while. Fortunately, we soon received confirmation that the injury is not too bad. Perhaps Leandro can play the next game.”
Brighton host Tottenham Hotspur on December 12th and Comhair suggests his client should be in contention to face Spurs at The Amex.
