Watford coach Claudio Ranieri is eyeing a double swoop on former club Sampdoria for duo Omar Colley and Morten Thorsby.
That’s according to Club Doria, who say the Watford coach could look to take advantage of his former club’s need to put some ‘liquidity’ into their coffers.
The website explains that Ranieri has remained ‘particularly fond’ of some of his former Sampdoria players, and Colley and Thorsby are at the top of it.
He has put both players ‘in his sights’, and it’s explained the ‘very positive’ relationship he enjoys with the pair could work in his favour.
Colley already has offers from the Premier League, but that relationship with Ranieri means it is likely those other offers will ‘go by the wayside’.
The same can be said of Thorsby, who has a ‘professional and human relationship’ with the Watford coach after he effectively ‘launched’ his career in Serie A.
In fact, he was in Watford’s sights during the summer transfer window, and Genoa resisted at that point, but with Ranieri now leading things at Vicarage Road, that could ‘waver’ this time around.
There is a ‘mutual trust and esteem’ between Colley and Thorsby with Ranieri, and that can be a ‘decisive’ factor for both players, who have ‘several suitors’ on the market.
It will not be easy for them to say no to a ‘courtship’ from the Watford coach.
