FootMercato report Watford’s contract with Pape Gueye would see them pay the 21 year old a ‘tiny salary’.
The youngster is set to leave Le Havre when his contract expires this summer, and as far as the Hornets are concerned, he signed a five year contract to play for them. It’s even been reported that Gueye made two trips to Udine to undergo medical checks at the other Pozzo family club, ahead of being contracted to the English side.
Gueye’s unhappiness with the situation emerged a few weeks ago, with it being claimed he didn’t fancy being sent on loan to Udinese. It soon became clear that money was the major issue, with the footballer believing he’d been offered far too little.
FootMercato now put the amount at less than €30k a month, and it’s claimed Watford are looking for €5m to free him from the contract.
Several Ligue 1 clubs are keen, and would presumably be happy to pay a bigger salary. As far as the French website is concerned, that €5m figure should come down.
But, this is Watford, and they certainly won’t be pushed around.
