It seems that Watford and West Ham scouts didn’t even need to leave the North of Portugal in the past few days.
After scouting Rio Ave’s game against Benfica, emissaries had one more job in the region as they watched Porto’s cup tie against Vitória Guimarães on Thursday.
This time, they could watch an expected result, as the home side won 4-0, continuing their fantastic form as they scored 14 goals in their last three games.
Both Watford and West Ham have been linked to quite a few Porto players in the past few seasons. As reported in the Portuguese press, Watford made an offer for Hector Herrera in the summer, while West Ham were said to be interested in the likes of Danilo Pereira and Yacine Brahimi.
Brahimi was rested last night, but there was still a lot of positives to take from the other players. Danilo and Herrera both did well, along with Vincent Abuobakar, Diego Reyes, Ivan Marcano and Alex Telles. Reserve striker André André also impressed.. scoring a brace despite coming on as a second half substitute.
For the away side, Fabio Sturgeon, linked to Celtic this summer, had a very good performance when creating play, but that was still not enough to offer much danger to Porto.
Scouts from Manchester United and Newcastle United were both present at the game as well.
