Back in the 2018-19 season, we got used to seeing Watford officials frequently being spotted at matches from the Portuguese league, regardless of the clubs involved.

Those visits slowly stopped happening, especially with the pandemic blocking people from entering stadiums for a year and a half, but things seem to be getting back to normal in the scouting trips.

According to A Bola, the Hornets had an emissary at the Portuguese League match between Porto and Paços Ferreira at the weekend, which ended with a 2-1 win for the home side.

Despite a beautiful shot from Nuno Santos to open the score for Paços, the Dragons had an important comeback with goals from Colombian striker Luis Diaz and Brazilian left-back Wendell.

All goalscorers had their performances highlighted by the home media, along with the likes of Paços Ferreira goalkeeper André Ferreira and Porto midfielder Vitinha.

It is, however, hard to guess who the scouts had an eye on.

Back at the time Watford used to watch Porto, the Hornets had been linked to Yacine Brahimi, who isn’t even at the club anymore.

So new targets will certainly arise, perhaps based on their visit to the Estádio do Dragão this weekend.
