The past few days have seen a number of stories emerge about Watford pushing to try and get Gaston Pereiro from PSV Eindhoven.

The Watford Observer reported the club were ‘waiting for the player to decide his future’ after Gino Pozzo and Filippo Giraldi made contact with the forward’s agent in June.

The Hornets remain interested, but they are going to face some competition from Milan, if Gazzetta dello Sport are to be believed.

The good news for Watford is that Pereiro isn’t Milan’s first choice to bolster the attack, but having been presented with the opportunity to make a move, the Serie A side are currently ‘studying’ whether or not to focus elsewhere or go all in on the Uruguayan.

Currently on holiday, the Eredivisie player is recovering from his spell at the Copa America with his national team.

Gazzetta do point out how strongly the Hornets want him, stating they ‘want to bring him to the Premier League in the next few days’.

Pereiro made 36 appearances for PSV last year, scoring 11 goals and picking up six assists in all competitions.
