Brought from Granada back in 2017, Dimitri Foulquier has yet to make an official appearance for Watford, with the Premier League club preferring to send him out on loan, first to Strasbourg and then Getafe, instead.
The 26-year-old doesn’t appear to be in Javi Gracia’s plans this season either after being omitted from the match day squad for the season opener against Brighton.
A regular starter at Getafe last season, the Guadeloupe international impressed when called upon, and that’s why the La Liga club are considering bringing him back for the new campaign set to start this weekend.
Marca report the Spaniards are ‘still in touch’ with the player, and it’s stated both parties are keen to work together again if they can.
The big hurdle between their desire and reality is Watford, who are ‘unwilling’ to terminate Foulquier’s contract to allow him to move on a free.
That leaves Getafe with two options: a loan with a compulsory clause to buy him or a straight transfer.
Marca explain Watford aren’t interested in a normal loan, suggesting they want Foulquier off their books if possible, leaving it all down to the La Liga club.
There’s plenty of time left to sort this out, with a couple of weeks left in the Spanish transfer window, and there will undoubtedly be updates in days to come.
