Earlier on Tuesday The Daily Mail reported that Tim Krul was having a medical in London to sign for Watford on loan. The Newcastle United owned player has been on loan at Ajax, recovering from his serious injury.

However, the comeback trail hit a block at Ajax because Krul couldn’t get near the Eredivisie club’s team. Newcastle United didn’t need Krul back, being well stocked in the goalkeeper department, and so the Watford claims quickly grew.

Now, Krul isn’t going to Watford, and is instead staying in the Netherlands.

Mike Verweij of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reports Krul is having a medical with AZ and is expected to sign for the club tonight. It’s stated that Watford took ‘ridiculously long’ with their medical, and AZ swooped in and agreed a deal.
