Watford’s chances of signing Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez now seem ‘impossible’ after he received a more attractive option.
That’s according to Cento Trentuno, who cover the situation around the midfielder’s future today.
Nandez had been linked with a move to Watford this summer as they continue their rebuild following relegation last season.
They were presented as the only option for the Uruguayan midfielder at the time, but it seems more clubs are now interested.
The website reports that while none of the player’s current suitors have come close to Cagliari’s demands, a loan with a €13m obligation to buy included, there are clubs who are keen.
Torino and Monza in Italy are those who look likeliest to make an offer, alongside Watford, but the likes of Napoli, Roma and Inter are in the background after previously looking at the player.
Then there is Lyon, who have reportedly put Nandez on their list and shown a ‘strong interest’ that could soon lead to negotiations.
All of those, particularly the French, are more attractive than Watford, who are now seen as an ‘impossible’ destination for Nandez to end up at.
That’s despite Cagliari and the player more than open to parting ways.
The Hornets will instead have to turn their attention elsewhere, with this move, which would have been a big coup, now looking dead in the water.
