Fanatik have claimed Galatasaray were on the verge of signing Stefano Okaka from Watford, but the move failed at the last minute due to paperwork concerns.

According to the Turkish newspaper Galatasaray came close to signing the Watford player on loan, as the club needed to bring in a striker to partner Bafetimbi Gomis.

However, it’s claimed Galatasaray’s new board didn’t want another ‘Kevin Grosskreutz situation’ so they pulled out of the deal with Watford.

The Turkish side managed to complete the signing of Kevin Grosskreutz back in the 2015 summer transfer window, but failed to register him in time, resulting in the German sitting out six months of the season.

Galatasaray thought there was a risk they couldn’t register Watford’s Okaka in time, so subsequently the Turkish giants pulled out of the deal.

The Watford forward was also linked with a move to Championship side Fulham, but again an agreement couldn’t be made.
