After days, weeks, of Andre Carrillo to Watford articles, and a deal reportedly being reached with Benfica, the player hasn’t yet moved.
On Monday, newspaper A Bola described the problem as ‘small details’ do be sorted between club and player, even though Watford are ready to pay for everything Carrillo was earning at Benfica.
But the real reason for the delay seems to be reported today, as the same newspaper claims Watford are having a hard time getting the player a work permit.
Carrillo is continually called up for the Peruvian national team, but had a problem an year ago, when he did not agree a new contract with Sporting and ended up being left out of international matches.A Bola says he didn’t play for Peru in eight months in that period.
That’s the main requirement for him to get a work permit, but his percentage of a bit over 40% of Peru’s matches in the past two years is still far from the 70% demanded.
A Bola claims that the Peruvian FA will try to help the situation by explaining he’s been injured for most of the absences, and in case it’s still not enough, then Watford will use other arguments to get the work permit.
In any case, the newspaper is still confident that Carrillo will complete the move, and claims that in next time he plays for Peru in early September, it’s likely Carrillo’s flight to South America will depart from London.
