Abdoulaye Doucoure is gearing up for transfer season by explaining he’d be happy with a transfer, but also happy if he stays at Watford for another campaign.

Linked with PSG during the January transfer window, Doucoure then took the chance to say how much such a move would please him. From just outside the Paris area, the 26 year old explained it was the club of his heart.

There was little chance of Watford agreeing to a sale in the winter market, but things may be different if a good offer comes in this summer. That said, the midfielder has a contract until 2023, so the Hornets are under no pressure to sell.

Doucoure has been speaking to the French media about his situation, and RMC have picked up the comments: “I do not dream of a particular club, of course PSG is one of the best in Europe, but I do not want to go to PSG at all costs.

“If anything happens, so much the better, otherwise I would be happy with Watford’s jersey, I gave everything for three seasons, and if I stay one more season, I’ll be happy, if I go, I’ll be happy too.”

Whatever the outcome, he’s content… but it seems clear he has a preference: “Everyone knows what I want, but it does not necessarily happen as desired.”

Doucoure explained the Champions League is a ‘dream’ for him, and added that representing the French national team is also a real desire. That would surely see his value rise.
