Valon Behrami returned to England last summer in a €3.5m deal from Hamburger SV.
After a mixed first season, the Watford player has been key for Walter Mazzarri this season, and has started 15 games so far.
The former West Ham footballer has been speaking to Radio Crc (via Tutto Mercato Web), ahead of the busy Christmas period in the Premier League.
Watford are currently 12th in the league standings, and Behrami insists they’re not in the ‘best moment’, despite few good results in the first half of the season.
He said: “We have had good results at Watford, although now is not one of our best moments.”
Behrami, who has also played in Germany and Italy, is quite used to enjoying a break over the Christmas period, but admits the atmosphere during the festive period in England is ‘beautiful’.
He added: “In England there is a beautiful Christmas atmosphere, this is the peculiarity, I miss a bit being with the family as it is a unique thing.”
Behrami has already played under Mazzarri at Napoli, and he insists the Italian manager hasn’t changed, and that there isn’t much media pressure in England.
He said: “Mazzarri is in a new country that he likes and is happy, he wants to do well, he is calmer. He is the same as he was in Naples, always hungry. In England, there is no media pressure like in Italy, we too, the players are more relaxed.”
The 31-year-old has 18 months left on his contract at Watford, and might be offered an extension considering Mazzarri’s trust in him.
