The Italian media will have had a special eye on Watford against Leicester City given the clubs are managed by Walter Mazzarri and Claudio Ranieri.
For a long time it was reported in Italy that Mazzarri was super keen on managing a Premier League club. He’d worked to learn English, there were reports of the manager getting a flat in Manchester, and Mazzarri was doing everything he could to show that he was ready and willing to get a chance in England.
Watford’s owning Pozzo family seemed to perfect opportunity for the former Inter Milan manager. Despite there not being a great deal of hope surrounding his appointment, similar to Ranieri at Leicester, Watford are doing very well and currently find themselves 8th in the Premier League table.
That sees them six places ahead of Leicester, after beating the Foxes 2-1 at the weekend. One man stood out for Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport and Roberto Pereyra has been included in their European Team of the Week.
Each week Gazzetta picks a selection of the finest performances from around Europe, whilst ignoring their own Serie A, and Pereyra squeezed in. The Argentine moved to Watford from Juventus, having played for Udinese previously, and so is well known in Italy, but his performance spoke for itself.
