Linked to clubs like Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the past, Mohammed Salisu is expected to leave Real Valladolid this summer.
It might not be for those two clubs, as there are plenty more interested, but an exit is likely, with Rennes in France pushing for a transfer.
Over in England, two other clubs are ‘lurking’, and that’s Southampton and Watford.
This is according to El Desmarque on Wednesday, who explain the Saints have done so ‘with strength’, while the Hornets are ‘threatening’ to make a move.
The suggestion here is that neither have actually decided to go in for Salisu, but are merely looking at the situation with varying degrees of interest.
If Ralf Hasenhüttl or Nigel Pearson do want Salisu at their club next season, however, they will need to move fast, as El Desmarque make it clear that if ‘nothing changes’, he will go to Rennes.
The clock is ticking for Southampton and Watford, and while they might have more pressing matters to attend right now, they are potentially at risk of missing out on a very talented defender.
