Promoted back to the Premier League, Watford decided to invest somewhat heavily in their squad to try and be as competitive as possible this season.

They’ve done that in the opening six games of the season, currently sitting 12th with seven points, but there are some questions being asked already about their recruitment.

Namely, about the decision to spend close to £10m on Imrân Louza from FC Nantes when Xisco seems reluctant to use the midfielder.

Sure, there is a need to allow him to settle into his new environment, but with two of his three appearances coming in the EFL Cup and just 45 minutes of Premier League action, there are some in France questioning the move.

But! Football Club have a small article on the situation, explaining that neither Louza or Abdoulaye Touré, sold to Genoa, are ‘flying the flag’ of their former club abroad with their lack of game time, ‘struggling to confirm their good performances’ with the Ligue 1 side last year.

It remains to be seen if the midfielder can turn things around and cement a spot in Xisco’s starting line up going forward, and there’s plenty of time for him to do it, but, for now, the move is starting to look like a mistake for the player.
