Watford are planning to ‘send a man to Belgium’ in their pursuit of Royal Antwerp defender Aurelio Buta.
Het Nieuwsblad report that the Hornets and Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, are both keen on the defender and have been following his performances throughout the season.
They are seemingly impressed by what they’ve seen so far, with the newspaper saying both clubs are considering bids for the 22-year-old in the January transfer window.
However, it appears that Watford are keener than Wolves at this stage and are already stepping forward with their plans to get him.
They plan to send a man to Belgium next month, although it is not made clear if that is to scout him once again or open negotiations with Antwerp. The fact there’s no mention of it being a scouting mission heavily suggests it will be the latter.
Het Nieuwsblad are convinced that a sale will happen too, stating that Buta ‘certainly will’ be able to earn something for the Belgian club.
Watford and Wolves, while not exactly big spenders, would presumably have no issue offering the kind of fee that Antwerp would want, so now alls that remains is to see what that may be.
As far as Het Nieuwsblad seem to be concerned though, a bid is likely to be coming sooner rather than later.
