Watford may not be doing very well in this start of season, but it doesn’t mean they’re not being ambitious about their plans for their future.

The Hornets continue to keep an eye on opportunities in the transfer market, and it seems the Champions League is a place to look at as well.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola today, Watford were one of the clubs who had a scout watching Benfica’s 2-1 win over Lyon last night.

Unfortunately, the outlet doesn’t point out who the Vicarage Road side were watching, and they haven’t really been linked to players from any of the clubs lately.

Benfica, who won with goals by Rafa Silva and Pizzi, had great performances from Ruben Dias and Alex Grimaldo as well.

For Lyon, who couldn’t do much in the 90 minutes, it was Memphis Depay who scored a goal and was the one to create the most danger.

Watford have been present at the Estádio da Luz several times in the past year, and it’s even starting to get a bit weird not to see them actually be linked to a single Benfica player.
