Back in November, Le10 Sport claimed Southampton were keeping an eye on Fousseni Diabaté, currently playing for Gazélec Ajaccio in Ligue 2.
The 22-year-old appears to have caught the eye of quite a few clubs around Europe, as Werder Bremen and Rennes in Ligue 1 were also said to be interested at the time.
Well, more have now added themselves to the list of clubs, as the same outlet reported on Tuesday that Watford and Betis in Spain have watched him recently.
With reports the Hornets could be after a new striker this winter, them being interested in a promising young forward isn’t all that surprising.
Stefano Okaka appears to be on his way out of the club, and both Andre Gray and Troy Deeney are struggling to find the back of the net regularly, so perhaps a cheap option could be brought in in January ahead of a bigger move in the summer?
His three goals in 18 appearances for the Ligue 2 side so far this season make for a meagre return, but Diabaté has also been used down the wings, stopping him from getting consistent game time up top.
Either way, that’s two Premier League sides keeping an eye on him, which will surely be a boost of confidence ahead of the winter transfer window and the second half of the season.
