Watford forward Roberto Pereyra ‘does not want’ to stay at the club this summer and could be a target for Roma.

That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who says the Argentine is a potential replacement for the injured Nicola Zaniolo.

The Italian youngster suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee earlier this week while on international duty, his second such injury in the last year.

He underwent surgery on Wednesday and is now set for another extended period on the sidelines as a result, leaving Roma with a considerable hole in their side.

That is a hole they could look to fill with a new arrival and, according to Venerato, that man could come from Watford.

“Roberto Pereyra could perhaps replace Zaniolo,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Area Napoli.

“The Argentine is still owned by the Pozzo family, but he doesn’t want to stay at Watford.”

Talk of Pereyra wanting out of Vicarage Road this summer will hardly come as a surprise for Watford, with several reports indicating he could be on the move.

There’s also been plenty of talk about a return to Italy too, with Torino and Udinese both recently named as possible destinations.

Roma can now seemingly be added to that list, although it seems their interest is very much in the early stages going by Venerato’s comments.
