Watford have once again conducted a scouting job in Portugal this weekend, this time watching the league match between Vitória Guimarães and Rio Ave.
It’s A Bola who reports the Hornets’ visit to Estádio Afonso Henriques, although they don’t seem to know who the Premier League club had an eye on.
It turned out to be quite an entertaining game, as Vitória opened the score, Rio Ave equalised, Vitória scored the second, Rio Ave equalised again, until the home side found a late winner.
Vitória players André André, Tozé and Yordan Osório were those who impressed for the home side, while Rio Ave only had Wenderson Galeno having a performance above average.
Watford had already watched both clubs last season, but hadn’t really been linked to players from either of them.
Although the match didn’t involve any big clubs, it had an impressive scouting list, with visits from Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano, Sporting Gijón, PSV, Borussia Monchengladbach, Parma, Atalanta, Basel and Besiktas.
