Gerard Deulofeu spent six months on loan at AC Milan in 2017 and an opportunity to sign for the Serie A side permanently was denied by their former sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli.

Last week, the Watford forward’s agent Albert Botines discussed his client potentially returning to the San Siro one day.

Even though the Spaniard failed in his last three attempts to join Milan, Calciomercato claims those close to the 25-year-old insist that joining the Rossoneri has become an ‘obsession’ for him.

Milan remains an ideal destination for the former Everton man and it’s claimed he would ask the Hornets to sanction his transfer.

The Italian side’s chiefs have received Deulofeu’s message ‘loud and clear’, but they have not started negotiations with Watford. The Pozzo family, who own the Premier League side, have slapped a €40m valuation on their player.

Milan appreciate Deulofeu’s desire to join them, but are unwilling to meet the English side’s demands for transfer. Any other formula is something Watford don’t want to hear about.

Watford are 18th in the table, meaning it is important for them to retain the player beyond January, in order to improve their chances of avoiding relegation this season.
