Adam Masina arrived at Watford from Bologna in 2018.

The left-back went on to make 20 appearances in all competitions in his debut season, but things weren’t progressing for him at the start of this term.

Watford have had three managers this season. The 26-year-old didn’t feature even once under Javi Gracia, while he made a handful of appearances under Quique Sánchez Flores.

However, things improved for the player after Nigel Pearson arrived at Vicarage Road and Masina had been a regular inclusion in his side’s starting XI before football was suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Prior to moving to England, the defender spent five seasons with Bologna. Even though his contract with the Premier League club is until 2023, Masina has publicly discussed the possibility of returning to his former club in the future.

“My heart is in Bologna. I dream of returning and wearing the captain’s armband, but now is not the time. Who knows in the future. Now I think of Watford and still growing as a player,” he told Stadio, as quoted by Tutto Bologna Web.

Although Masina has opened the door to returning to the Italian side in the future, he needs to find out if Bologna are interested in taking him back.
