Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has ruled out becoming a coach when he retires, insisting that he doesn’t have the patience for the job.

The veteran was supposed to hang up his boots this summer, having hinted since the beginning of this year that this would be his last in the game.

However, that never ended up happening, with the 38-year-old instead signing a new one-year deal at Vicarage Road to take him into a sixth season with the Hornets and 18th as a player.

This year is almost certainly going to be his last in the game and, like most players, he now has to plan for what comes next.

And when asked if that could see him become a coach, perhaps at old club PSV Eindhoven, the Brazilian was less than enthusiastic.

“I still follow them (PSV) via social media, he told Voetbal Primeur.

“There are also a few Dutch people at Watford, so we always talk about Dutch football. The club is still in my heart and it will stay that way forever.
“I wish them all the best and hopefully we can beat Ajax this season.

Maybe if they need a director (I’ll return), because I don’t think I’m going to be a coach. That’s not for me.

“I understand the game well, but it’s not up to me to train players. I don’t have the patience for that.”
