Ken Sema has played just 287 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, and it doesn’t seem like he’ll be adding to that at the weekend.
The Hornets face Arsenal on Sunday, and that’s the final match before the latest international break. Sema had been in the planned squad for Sweden, but it’s now been announced he’s had to withdraw from the selection, meaning his country have called up Kerim Mrabti as a replacement.
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet quote national manager Janne Andersson as saying: “It’s sad that Ken needs to cancel, I hope of course that he is back as soon as possible. We have followed Kerim who did well in Mechelen. He has been with us earlier on the January tour so we know what qualities he has. It will be fun to work with him again.”
There was no indication on what Sema’s injury is or when he’ll be expected back on the pitch, either with Watford or Sweden.
He came on after half-time for Cucho Hernandez as Watford lost 1-0 to Southampton in Claudio Ranieri’s latest match.
Following the international break, the club face Manchester United on November 20th, giving Sema more than two weeks to try and get back to full fitness. The Hornets are currently in 16th place, and are three points outside the relegation zone.
