It’s been a while since we’ve last seen Richarlison happy at Watford.
The Brazilian striker, who constantly speaks to his home country’s press, has been complaining a lot in recent interviews, and it wasn’t any different at the weekend.
Richarlison spoke to ESPN Brasil right after Watford’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United, and despite the victory, he couldn’t really show any joy.
First asked about how important the result was, the player said: “Certainly. We achieved our goal, which was to stay on the Premier League for next year. Objective fulfilled. Now we’re going to play against Manchester United, complete the fixtures, but surely we want to win too, because the more points the better, then we want to go up the table even more.”
Then reporter João Castelo Branco commented on the player’s facial expression and asked if he’s frustrated for starting the game on the bench once again. Richarlison responded: “For sure. I had been playing. I’m one of the few players who played all the Premier League games. Unfortunately this end of the season here, I haven’t been playing.
“But this is with the coach, he knows the best for the team. So I’m happy to be here in the Premier League. My start of the season was very good, so I just have to thank God that there was no injury to me. It’s been a couple of years that I haven’t been injured, so I’m really happy about it.”
When Richarlison refers to his start of the season, he’s recalling the five goals he scored between August and November. The player hasn’t found the net since then, so it’s no surprise that a striker is dropped to the bench when he’s not scoring goals for so long. At least it shouldn’t be.
