Watford wonderkid Yaser Asprilla scored at the weekend his first international goal, as in Colombia’s win over Guatemala, the winger opened the score for their 4-1 victory.
With the player showing great potential for the national team, the local media now calls him the Cafeteros’ ‘young wonder’.
It’s El Tiempo who today features a story about Asprilla, claiming he was the ‘best news’ Colombia had in this friendly against Guatemala, as besides scoring, he also made an assist.
The outlet writes that the 18-year-old had ‘already been showing good level with Watford’, and now has been able to live up to the expectations at the national team as well.
Asprilla is the second-youngest player at the national team, and as he suddenly becomes an important piece in the squad, he spoke to the local media about it.
“I also thank my teammates for supporting me. It is a joy to be with Falcao and the others. They have talked to me a lot, they give me advice, it is a very nice feeling to be with Falcao and all of them.”
Asprilla joined Watford on a €3m move from Envigado. The purchase was made at the start of the year, but the Hornets let him stay at the South American side this summer.
Since moving to England, he made nine appearances for the Vicarage Road side, and is still working to score his first goal there.
