Portuguese newspaper Record features a big story today saying Watford have ‘opened an auction’ for the sale of Luis Suarez.
The reason for the outlet’s focus on the striker is that Sporting are interested in his signing, and should now have a tough competition for him.
It’s claimed that the Lions wanted to spend €5m for 60% of his rights, but by now, Watford have already received better offers than that.
It’s said Ameria offered €12m for 100% of the player, or €8m for 50% and Italian side Bologna are willing to spend €10m, giving the Hornets 40% from the profit of a future sale.
Record adds that Valencia also made an approach yesterday, but they’re still to make an official bid.
Following this big battle, Watford decided to make the best profit they can get, and are now demanding €15m for 50% of the player.
It’s also said the Hornets don’t rule out keeping him at the club for the upcoming season.
Record claims that Suárez and his staff are aware of Sporting’s interest, and are currently gathering information about all the clubs who want him.
