On Monday, Watford announced the signing of Ismael Kone.

The Canada international is joining the Hornets in a move from Montreal, having signed a contract which runs until 2026.

Watford’s talks for the midfielder had already been reported by the Italian media last month, and there’s actually a good reason for that part of the European press to be interested in this deal.

According to multiple reports today, the Hornets are set to have Kone for a short time, as he should soon head to Udinese.

Calcio Mercato is one of those talking about this possibility, claiming the player ‘could’ join the Italian side next year. Meanwhile, Tutto Mercato Web sounds more sure the player ‘will be turned over’ to the Italian club in the summer.

Both sides belong to the Pozzo family, and this is just one of the deals being made in this formula. As reported by the Brazilian media this week, Udinese are buying Matheus Martins from Fluminense and also loaning him out to Watford straight away.

That sounds like a way for the club owners to split the expenses, or they’re just moving players around until they figure out where the new signings should stay for longer.
