Last month, we covered a fantastic interview Heurelho Gomes gave to ESPN Brasil saying there was a 99% chance he would retire this summer.
The Watford goalkeeper revealed he only became a footballer to buy a house for his mother, and after having a great career, he says he’s almost ready to hang up his boots.
But it seems the 1% chance still exists, according to Globo Esporte today. The Brazilian outlet claims that Gomes will only take his decision after the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The website says that Watford’s board called the goalkeeper for a meeting last Monday to offer him a one-year extension. The player has been silent since then, and will only speak after Saturday’s match.
Although manager Javi Gracia has already admitted he would like Gomes to stay at the club for longer, the boss can’t confirm if the Brazilian will be playing in the final, despite featuring in the entire run to the final.
