Watford are interested in one of the stars of the World Cup semi-finals, according to reports today.
Outlet Tutto Udinese writes that the Hornets are keen on the signing of Walid Cheddira, who’s been featuring for Morocco in Qatar.
The story claims Watford could even make an offer for the striker ‘as early as January’, even though his cllub Bari ‘would hardly let him leave lightly’.
However, a transfer is considered to be more likely in July, ‘especially’ if the Hornets get the promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Now with the rumour being covered by Tutto Udinese, there’s a reason why their fans are interested in it.
That’s because there’s a chance Watford could buy Cheddira now and loan him to Udinese until the end of the season.
That way, they’d keep the player featuring in his same country and getting some minutes in a top flight league.
Cheddira has 14 goals for Bari this season, and was used by Morocco in the knock-out games against Spain and Portugal. His contract with the Serie B side runs until 2025.
