As well as recruiting for the first-team this summer, Watford are thinking about the future if Goal France are to be believed.

The website published a article on Thursday claiming the Hornets had taken the first steps to sign Nathan Massama from Nantes.

The 18-year-old signed his first contract with the Ligue 1 side last year, and Watford have taken a liking to the centre-back, already towering over the competition, standing at just over 6’3”.

Other clubs have also been hovering around the youngster, as Goal claim Celtic, Chelsea and Southampton travelled to watch him at some stage this season to take a closer look.

Watford appear to be the only ones to have made a move, a claim further backed up by RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi, who explains both Nantes and the Hornets have started negotiations regarding a possible move.

There are no more details beyond this, suggesting it’s still very early days, and we’ll keep an eye on any update in the near future.
