Throughout the summer, there was a belief that Nahitán Nandez was going to leave Cagliari.
The player was being targeted by a number of big clubs, namely Tottenham, Leeds United and Inter, but neither managed to convince the Serie A side with their offers, and the Uruguayan stayed.
Now having to wait until January to see if he can get a move away from Sardinia, the midfielder also had one last chance to move to the Premier League thanks to Watford.
That’s according to La Nuova Sardegna, relayed by Cagliari News 24, who reveal the Hornets made a ‘last minute offer’ for Nandez on Tuesday evening, which was returned to sender by the Italians.
That’s because, at least until the next transfer window, ‘Cagliari want Nandez, his versatility, strength and determination’.
It isn’t said how much Watford put forward, but considering the Uruguay international has a €36m clause in his contract and the Serie A side were in a position to turn it down, it wouldn’t have been near that fee.
