Earlier on Wednesday, we relayed the news from Italy that Watford, alongside Fulham, were looking at possibly signing Matteo Musacchio from Milan in the near future.

The Cottagers had reportedly seen a bid turned down in the summer, while the Hornets were yet to make a move, but the Argentinian isn’t the only defender in the city on whom Javi Gracia has his eyes on.

According to FCInterNews, Watford have already ‘taken the first steps’ to try and sign Andrea Ranocchia from Inter, believing he has the right attributes to help them.

The Italian defender already has some experience in the Premier League, playing under Marco Silva at Hull City, where he played well, but was ultimately unable to help the Tigers stay up in England’s top-tier.

Watford are said to have already contacted the player’s entourage to find out what his situation is, and, for now, it’s not what they wanted to hear.

Andrea Ranocchia is apparently quite happy in Milan,  because the manager has made him feel valued, even if he has yet to make an appearance under Luciano Spalletti this season,

That doesn’t mean the Hornets will give up easily, and FCInterNews state they will return later on, hoping that things have changed in a couple of months as the January transfer window draws nearer.
