Rennes’ Ismaila Sarr has been on Watford’s radar this summer and the Hornets had seen a proposal turned down by the French club.

This was confirmed by the Ligue 1 club’s president Olivier Létang in July, but he didn’t disclose the details of the offer.

Javi Gracia’s side are still interested in the winger, according to Le10 Sport.

It’s claimed the Premier League club have transmitted the ‘biggest offer’ for the Senegal international.

Watford have proposed a fixed fee of €30m plus bonuses for Sarr. However, his employer is still demanding €40m to sanction his sale.

It is not clear if the figure quoted by Rennes is an overall fee or the fixed fee needed for the transfer.

The report states discussions continue, but there is a belief things are unlikely to move forward in the coming days.

It remains to be seen whether or not Watford will be able to convince Rennes to allow Sarr move to Vicarage Road.
