Watford striker Luis Suárez has admitted he is doing everything he can to distract himself from the current Coronavirus crisis.
Suárez is currently on loan at Spanish side Real Zaragoza, where he has proven to be a huge hit, scoring 17 goals in LaLiga 2 so far.
Like the rest of football, they are currently waiting to discover when the season will end, with Spanish football delayed until the virus can be brought under control.
Spain has been hit particularly hard by the outbreak, with the government ordering a state of lockdown in an attempt to slow its spread.
This is naturally proving tough, and Suárez says he is trying to occupy his mind to avoid thinking about the situation.
“We all want to return to the field, to feel like footballers because this is very complicated and everyone is going through it,” he told the club’s official website, relayed by El Periódico de Aragón.
“My hobby is being with my family, watching shows and trying to be distracted, because if you start thinking about what it’s like to be here without going out, it’s going to get very complicated.
“At home, with the family, both they and I try to be as calm as possible, playing ball with the little one or distracting you by playing games.
“If you think that you are locked up, and you can’t go outside, you lose your head. You have to take it with the best attitude.”
This season has proven to be an extremely fruitful one for Suárez, whose decision to depart Watford temporarily is looking a smart one.
The striker’s goal record has not only made him a star at Zaragoza but also put him in the eye line of bigger clubs in Spain too.
There is, however, talk that he will be returning to Watford, who not only plan to sign him to a new, improved deal but make him a part of the squad next season.
He is undoubtedly pleased with his progress, stating that this season has been a ‘beautiful’ one for him.
“It’s been a very nice year in the team,” he added.
“It’s the best season I’m having in my short sports career, and I’m very happy.
“I’ve been working since I was very young to be at this level and fortunately this has arrived here.”
