Early on Tuesday morning, Sky Sports announced on their live blog that Watford were interested in signing André Zambo Anguissa from Marseille.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder is slowly becoming an important player for Rudi Garcia at the Ligue 1 side, and has impressed this season.
Already appearing 33 times for the club this season, the Cameroon international, who arrived on a free in 2015 from Stade Reims, appears to have caught the eye of Javi Gracia, but that doesn’t mean he’ll move.
According to L’Equipe’s Marseille based journalist Mathieu Gregoire, much like Bouna Sarr, Marseille have no interest in selling Zambo Anguissa, who has apparently been tracked by a number of English teams since the summer.
Sarr has already been the subject of a couple of bids from Leicester City, as Claude Puel looks around for a new right-back, but none have arrived (yet) for the defensive midfielder.
Maybe Marseille will be more inclined to listen to big offers in the summer, even if that seems unlikely.
Perhaps this is one for Watford to cross off, especially since a deal for Didier Ndong appears to be done and dusted.
